Two tracks per child: Math (the prerequisite) and Money (the application). Master the math and it unlocks the money skill it powers.

Progress β the K-12 dual-track ladder
Every grade band pairs a math skill with the money skill it unlocks. SmartScores are EARNED under CALE β harder to gain than to lose, and they fade without practice.

One at-home activity per band β the same math → money pairing your child sees in the Academy. Pick your child's band or stretch one band up.
Counting & Place Value → Coins & First Savings
Numbers tell us HOW MANY. Count each coin, one at a time, and the last number you say is the total. Knowing how many you have is the very first money skill.
Do together: practice the math for 10 minutes, then apply it to their very first bank account with real money at home.
Fractions → Making Change
A fraction is a fair share of a whole. 1/2 means split into 2 equal parts and take one. When friends split a cost, they use fractions to keep it fair.
Do together: practice the math for 10 minutes, then apply it to splitting a bill fairly with real money at home.
Percentages → Budgeting Β· 50/30/20
Percent means "out of 100." 20% is 20 of every 100. To find 20% of a price, multiply by 0.20. Stores use percentages for every sale sign.
Do together: practice the math for 10 minutes, then apply it to reading a percent-off sale with real money at home.
Percent & Simple Interest → Credit & Smart Spending
Simple interest = principal Γ rate Γ time. Earn 5% on $200 and the bank pays you 5 for every 100 you keep. The same math tells you what a loan costs.
Do together: practice the math for 10 minutes, then apply it to how interest grows a balance with real money at home.
Linear Equations → Compound Interest & Investing
A linear equation predicts a value: y = mx + b. Start with b, add m each step. Save $50 a month starting from $100 and y = 50x + 100 tells you any future balance.
Do together: practice the math for 10 minutes, then apply it to modeling a savings plan with real money at home.
Compound Interest → Portfolios & Net Worth
Compound interest earns interest ON your interest: A = P(1 + r)βΏ. It is the engine of long-term wealth β the earlier you start, the more it compounds.
Do together: practice the math for 10 minutes, then apply it to compound interest over a lifetime with real money at home.

Math unlocks Money
Reaves Academy teaches K-12 math and financial literacy as one ladder. Each math skill (counting, fractions, percentages, linear equations, compound interest) is the prerequisite for a real money skill (first savings, splitting bills, reading sales, savings plans, long-term investing). Your child masters the math first β then applies it to money.
CALE β the Competitive Adaptive Learning Engine
CALE tracks mastery, not clicks. SmartScores are asymmetric (harder to gain than to lose), skills fade without practice, and prerequisites gate progression β so a score always reflects real, current ability. Lessons run in 9 phases from Meet your Guide through Victory, CALE Recap, and the money unlock.
10 minutes together
Ask your child to teach YOU the skill they just mastered β explaining is the deepest level of learning. Then use the Learn Together tab to apply it with real money.
Meet the Guides
Every band has an AI guide with an owned voice β one for the math track, one for the money track and its world.

The 9-phase lesson
Meet your Guide → Objectives → Warm-up → Teach → Practice ×2 → Victory → CALE Recap → Unlock Money. Every phase is voice-narrated by the band's guide; the unlock connects the math skill to its money application.
SmartScore bands
80-100 Strong β ready to advance. 50-79 Developing β one more pass helps. Below 50 β CALE pauses forward progress and schedules a re-teach. Because scores decay, a quiet student's fade is visible before test day.
Separable for reporting, intertwined for learning
Math and Money report as separate tracks (for standards alignment and grading) but every unlock ties them together β so financial literacy time reinforces math standards instead of competing with them.
Standards alignment
Aligned to Jump$tart Β· CEE Β· NGPF Β· CFPB Β· CCSS across all bands.
| Band | Math missions | Money missions | Bloom's | Scope |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| K-2 | 6 math | 6 money | L1-L6 | 33 modules |
| 3-4 | 6 math | 6 money | L1-L6 | 24 modules |
| 5-6 | 6 math | 6 money | L1-L6 | 16 modules |
| 7-8 | 6 math | 6 money | L1-L6 | 32 modules |
| 9-10 | 6 math | 6 money | L1-L6 | 32 modules |
| 11-12 | 6 math | 6 money | L1-L6 | 32 modules |
Every mission is tagged with Bloom's taxonomy level L1-L6 and its prerequisite link, so coverage maps directly onto math (CCSS) and financial-literacy (Jump$tart, CEE, NGPF, CFPB) frameworks.
